Obama People Way Too Nervous

Recent polling data has shown the expected result: a narrowing of the presidential race. Everyone of these polls gathered data immediately following the Republican Convention. Yet, in scouring the blogosphere, one would think that the freakin’ world just ended.

Obama supporters are way, way too nervous. Please, do not pay attention to these polls. They are worth a SOS…however, if you must, look at them as if the cup is half full and not half empty.

Four new national popular vote polls (CBS, ABC, Diageo/Hotline and Rasmussen) all have the race essentially tied…and this during the period of McCain’s (expected) biggest post-convention bounce.

My friends, it is extremely important to remain very optimistic and continue to do the grunt work like never before in this effort. New voter registration numbers are very positive for Obama and the Democrats down ticket. Don’t blow it.

  1. Honestly, I expected Johnny to get a bounce out of his convention, and that’s what happened. However, that bounce only brought him back to even with Obama. This was probably our best-case scenario. Remember the big bounce W got four years ago? This is doable.

Hopefully, these numbers will offer further incentive for people to keep fighting the good fight.

  2. All 4 led in the Gallup tracking after their conventions. All 4 of them lost their elections, 2 by blowout margins. Gore and Carter even had the McCain benefit of going second and letting their bounce resonate.

  3. I would be coming in here in full mockery mode what with a) the all-caps title and b) peeing on the third rail of SSP (presidential politics)… but jeez, considering the blogosphere-wide flip-out today, from Chris Bowers on down the food chain, I think this kind of thing needs to be shouted from the rooftops. So thanks!

  4. Did you see the Gallup poll for Independents? It has swung far to McCain’s advantage. If that is the case on election day, Obama loses.

Obama has not come out and attacked Palin fast enough. It is a mistake to ignore her. With her on the ticket the dynamics of the race have completely changed.

It’s time to go after her. Otherwise she will be known as a gutsy reformer governor by the majority of the American public. We need to hit her hard and hit her now.

It’s time for Obama to fight back. Otherwise he will be swift boated just like Kerry.

I’d like to see ads attacking Palin on her abortion stances, on sex education (remind folks how well it’s worked for her family), and on being anti evolution in the classroom. She is so extreme on these issues — focus on that.

I’d also like to see ads attacking her denouncement of community organizers. Show her and Guiliani mocking Obama, then show the crowd of rich, mostly white, conventioneers  laughing their asses off. It would also remind people of Obama’s character. Everyone knows the story of McCain the POW. That shows character. Not many people realize that Obama postponed a good paying job after college in order to organize unemployed steel workers — that also shows character.

God I hope we don’t have another Gore/ Kerry on our hands.

Gore would have won if he had compared his Vietnam experience to Bush’s National Guard experience. Kerry would have done better if he would have attacked the “Swift Boaters”. Instead they took it for granted that Americans are smart people who don’t vote based on emotions.

    Yuck.
